The app makes file backup and organization very, very easy. It's been great. However-- my one request is that the "you're running out of room" notice use an algorithm based on how quickly you use to your storage to set a more reasonable notice schedule. For instance, I have 200gb. Drive has been telling me for a year that I'm almost out of storage, because I hit 175gb. I don't need to know that every few days. I'm not using up the storage that quickly, so jeez, I get it.

The app's file uploading is incredibly frustrating. It constantly gets stuck when uploading multiple files, requiring cache clearing instead of a simple retry. This often leads to lost files. Even with a stable Wi-Fi connection, simultaneous uploads struggle. I've tried all troubleshooting steps, but nothing works consistently. Uploads can take hours, even on cellular data. The entire experience is inconvenient and time-consuming. The app desperately needs a better file uploading system.

Alexandra

It is a horrible service. It gives me a hard time. It disconnects from my car all the time. Whoever wrote the code for this app, needs to do a review and update on it. I will give 0 stars but no choice. My problem is that I connect my phone to the car and suddenly disconnects. Android and the app is compatible but it disconnects all the time. I had upt out of using it just like with Google maps.

I can't seem to get this useless app to work! I've tried clearing the apps cache and data, restarting my phone multiple times, toggling between wifi and data connections, reinstalling the app and turning airplane mode on and off. I even contacted the Google Drive community, to no avail. Plus, after doing numerous research, I feel like any file I upload and share on this app, is available for the entire world to see! Not my cup of tea! I'm beyond frustrated and will be uninstalling this app ASAP!

Drive's android app really sucks. It fails to upload with no notification that it failed. It sits on "waiting to upload" instead of uploading the file. I pay $10 a month for this storage space, but Google Drive just "waits to upload". On the same device, with the same internet connection, the upload takes about a minute to Drive in the browser. Google refuses to acknowledge this is a bug in the app and fix it, and only tells you to "clear app cache" which doesn't help upload the files.

Constantly locks up! It has only worked once since I started using it. It takes up to 30 mins to upload a short video. I'm not able to manage access on most of my files. Super frustrating app.!! Constantly showing errors! What is wrong Google?! All It says is can't retrieve file, check network connection. My connection is working just fine.

Seriously this is the worst app it will not download anything even when I took it off of Wi-Fi downloading only. it just sits and Spins and Spins and Spins. then even when it does spin you can't hit the X to stop the upload. madness! until they fix these issues seek other cloud storage devices. If I found an easy way to get off of this drive I would it never works ever...! Cleared Catch and Cleared Data... Now it says "waiting for Network." and I am clearly on the network.

It is one of the most infuriating apps to use. Moving one photo at a time, it locks up, it doesnt want to work with other apps, SLOW, drains battery and heats up a phone like crazy for something moving ONE photo at a time. Between trying this and OneDrive im ready to pull my hair out. This is 2024, sorting and moving photos around shouldnt be this big of a hassle. Im sure ive lost a lot of photos because of these apps and doubt im the only one.

Update: I cleared the cache and maybe even uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked for like a day, and it's back to the old behavior. When I download something, I have the icon to add to drive. I choose a folder and then have a persistent notification that it's uploading for days, and can't cancel it. It never ends up loading. Nothing I do gets PDFs to print to drive. I have turned off the requirement for WiFi and still have documents from months ago trying to upload

I keep having to deal with an issue of not stopping an upload from my phone. Once I hit stop or delete, it will continue indefinitely. Also, there is a bug where the download and the rest of the other stuff doesn't pop up for files. They are all mine, btw. It will be there for some, but not the others. It's so aggravating, not only that I have to go to recent instead suggested to even get the download button.

Jitendra De Silva

Uploading a file couldn't be more of a painful experience. Edit: when uploading multiple files from gallery to drive, it does not start. You have to go to into the drive and then select from gallery. Also, when uploading only using WiFi is turned on, then turned off, pending uploads do not ever end or get uploaded. It says waiting indefinitely. Also, uploading fails for all uploads when switching networks, not just for the current file that's being uploaded. Few more issued I can fit in this

Jared Boyes

This is the absolute WORST app. It's designed to force you to pay for more storage because the alternative is spending not minutes, days, or even weeks poring over images and deleting them, but MONTHS! If you delete too many images too quickly, it bugs and you can't access your photos for a certain period of time, so you have to break this monotonous task into pieces just to manage your photos. Meanwhile, it affects your Gmail account and prevents new emails from being received. IT'S JUNK!!!

Stephanie Albrecht (StepStone)

Will never finish upload, no matter what I do or don't do. Later: Google Drive Upload is either 12-star quick, or less than zero sluggish, frozen. This happens most often when WeNote is syncing with Drive, but happens when no other Phone RAM is being used. I PAY for extra Drive space, & have excellent Wifi. I do clear Cache, etc. When I go to my Drive space, it's an unholy mess, difficult to organize. I'm sick of how Google apps have gone downhill the last couple of years.

Scott Neukam

Bait and switch tactics I needed more space, and I instead choice to clean up my files instead of buying more space but it just wasn't going to cut it, but they show you an offer for .49 cents for 3 months and then 1.99 after that, but as soon as you click on the deal it's nowhere to be found. It's completely bait and switch and it's ridiculous that a billion dollar company is going to bait and switch their customers over $4.50. Totally unreal.

Still Buggy!! Even after reinstalling, the option to "Make a Copy" will not be available at times. The option will appear again after refreshing with a pull down from the top and/or opening the file first. This also affects managing sharing access under details of the file, displaying a message stating "you don't have the permission to change the details.." or something similar and i own the file. Google Developers please look into this on your end, and don't send a generic reply to this.

Edwin Rogel

What's going on with Drive? I use to scan perfectly fine, I would modify the settings select black and white, landscape, high quality now I don't have that option! I Uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked for ONE document then it went back to the awful screen that doesn't have settings. Bring back the old scanning option. 5/16/24 PLEASE bring back the older version of scanning!

Paul Sockness

As of about a month ago when viewing PDF files and zooming in, sometimes the graphics will pixelate and cover up the text. This starting happening about a month ago. Never had a problem before that. So now I open & view the PDF with a different app with no issues. But I'd rather use the Google drive as my viewer because it zooms in more & full screen view is better. Hopefully this can get fixed!

Natalia Snyder

I'd give 0 stars if I could! Absolute nightmare for so many reasons! Didn't transfer half of my photos, can't find them anywhere, regrouped photos however it seems fit instead of the way I had them and won't shut up with its suggestions, yet can't find my missing photos, has a million settings that don't really change anything. Absolute nightmare

William Denham

It is way better on desktop. It works on mobile, but it takes longer to upload, open, and share documents, which kind of makes sense. Also, in order to create a doc, slideshow, drawling, etc., you need to have that app downloaded, while on desktop, you can do it right in the browser. Why must you download an app for everything when drives organization is clearly superior? There has to be a way for the developers to embed the other apps into drive, or make it open the webpage like a desktop would

Ivan Korystin

I can't understand why version of Google Drive on Android is the worse of all platforms. You can't sync folders, you can't download or upload folders, only single files, and even downloading a file to a smartphone memory or open it in another app is a quest. I can only wonder why it's easier to save the file to device or open it in an app you your choosing on highly restricted iOS than on Google's own Android.
